About

I trained as an architect, co-ran a design studio for seven years, and now design products with US teams.

I’m M Abdullah Khaliq. I design products, and I’m based in Lahore, working with teams in Austin and Los Angeles.

I trained as an architect. I’ve been designing professionally since 2018, while I was still studying for my B.Arch at NUST, which I completed in 2022. In the summer of 2018 I spent four months at MicrologicX as a Product Designer & Developer, writing HTML, CSS and PHP: enough front-end to know what a handoff really costs. From 2018 to 2021 I was also Design & Creative Director at Chadar, in Islamabad.

In March 2019 I co-founded Designer(d)s’, a studio in Lahore, and co-ran it for seven years, until June 2026. We designed spaces and brands for the digital and physical worlds, across architecture, branding and brand strategy, and UI/UX, for more than 40 brands. In 2021 I spent six months as a Project Architect at MSA, the Metropolitan Studio of Architecture.

Architecture taught me that the visible part comes last. Long before anything gets drawn, you work out how people move through a space, what the structure has to carry and which constraints are real. Product design is the same work in a different material. A booking flow has a structure. A clinic’s software has load-bearing rules. Everything I’ve designed since has taught me the same thing: what it costs to build, and what it costs to keep alive once it leaves my hands.

Product design has been my main job since January 2025, when I joined COSMO, in Austin, as a Multidisciplinary Design Specialist. There I designed ClinicOS end to end, the software a clinic runs on: calendar and booking, client records, charting and the EHR, payments, a dashboard, reports, and an AI front desk added midway. I built parts of it myself, in Cursor. I also made the architectural 3D renders for Evolve Strength’s new gym, so its launch ads could show the rooms before they were built.

Since September 2026 I’ve also been Product Design Manager at Mesghali Studio, in Los Angeles, where I own product design for a framework expansion, from user flows through developer handoff, along with the design system underneath it.

The people I work with tend to learn from me as we go. Their workflow improves, their ideas sharpen, and over time they get more done. I’ve noticed that wherever I work, things grow: the people, and the work along with them.

Beyond health tech, I’ve designed brand identities, launch campaigns, product listings for online stores, websites, and 3D product renders. Some of that work was for fintech, and a little for Web3.

I work in fluent English, written and spoken.

Off the clock

I’m in the gym five times a week, and I run as well. When a fitness brand describes its customer to me, I’m usually looking at him in the mirror.

Ask me about tech at your own risk. I build my own PCs, and after reviewing a lot of gear, I have opinions about your keyboard.

I play Call of Duty and FIFA, and I’m good at both. Happy to prove it.

I’m also an efficiency freak, about my time most of all. Yes, the gym is in the calendar.

Work with me

I'm open to product design roles, full-time or contract, and to products that need designing from the first sketch to the shipped build.
